As of November, NIO has a total of 600 NIO Power Swap stations in Mainland China. The ratio of vehicles to the station is 272 vehicles per station.

Even so, I am not optimistic about the NIO power swap solution.

1. It is difficult to make a profit for the battery swapping model. It's too much investment. The first generation of NIO swap power station needs to occupy three standard parking spaces, and each station needs to be equipped with a rechargeable car and staff. The cost of a power station configured in this way is more than three charging piles.

2. It is not economical for consumers. Someone has calculated that in accordance with the NIO BASS purchase plan, it is most cost-effective to use it for 3 years.

3. Not convenient for consumers. Its coverage rate can hardly exceed that of charging piles. Take my city(one of the four municipalities in Mainland China) as an example, the nearest power station is 3.8 kilometers away, and it takes 16 minutes. The nearest charging pile is only 735 meters long and takes 4 minutes. If 800v fast charging (200km charging in 5 minutes) can be popularized in the future, the biggest advantage of the battery swap station will no longer be obvious.

Maybe we can get some inspiration from the popularity of smartphones that never replace the battery.
